Robotaxis: the consequences for the European economy

Lecture by Prof. Dr. Pero Mićić (recording)

The current layoffs, plant closures and strikes in the European automotive industry are unfortunately just the beginning.

  1. Chinese suppliers have made a massive leap to become the world’s leading exporters since 2020.
  2. Chinese customers consider European and German products to be old-fashioned and backward. And they are increasingly turning to electric alternatives, which are predominantly cheaper in China than comparable combustion engines.
  3. The hesitant entry of traditional manufacturers into electromobility has resulted in cars that are too unattractive and too expensive (and yet loss-making) to keep up with the new specialists.

The next disruption is looming for the European and, above all, the German economy. Hardly any company is prepared for it.

Robotaxis will transform individual mobility in just a few years.

At the same time, this marks the beginning of a new era full of opportunities for sustainable, very affordable mobility and a better quality of life.

In a presentation for Bright Future Leaders, Pero Mićić answered the following questions:

  1. Are autonomous vehicles really coming?
  2. Why robotaxis and autonomous vehicles?
  3. When are they coming?
  4. What has changed technologically now?
  5. How much will they cost?
  6. Who will be the global leader?
  7. What do the drivers* think?
  8. What does this do to the automotive industry and its suppliers?
  9. How is that supposed to work in rush-hour traffic?
  10. What will drive autonomously?
  11. Which other sectors will be affected?
